Location: Pohri Block, Shivpuri District, Madhya Pradesh

Project Overview

This project is being implemented in 15 villages of Pohri Block, Shivpuri District. Its primary aim is to eliminate maternal and child mortality and address severe malnutrition through a community-based approach. The initiative focuses on strengthening health, nutrition, and livelihood systems at the grassroots level.

Objectives

  • Reduce severe malnutrition and maternal & child mortality in 15 villages of Pohri Block.
  • Empower communities to effectively access government schemes and services.
  • Ensure a healthy, safe, and self-reliant life for all.

Target Groups

  • Strengthen communities and government systems to dispel myths and misconceptions related to health, nutrition, and sanitation.
  • Train Anganwadi and ASHA workers to improve the reach and quality of health services.
  • Promote local livelihoods and water conservation to ensure food and nutrition security.

Key Activities & Interventions

  • Community Leadership: Empower women, youth, and active community members to lead and monitor nutrition and health initiatives.
  • Access to Government Schemes: Ensure communities benefit from health, nutrition, and food security services.
  • Local Production & Nutrition Diversity: Enhance local food production through agriculture, nutrition gardens, poultry, and seed banks.
  • Health & Nutrition Practices: Promote breastfeeding, complementary feeding, immunization, hygiene, and equitable food distribution.

Advocacy

  • Build community leaders to ensure effective implementation of schemes.
  • Raise awareness about health and nutrition programs at the community level.
