Details
To aggravate the best practices of agriculture, strengthen the capacity of the target beneficiaries, small, marginalized and women farmers and raise income generation activities thus securing nutrition and food security, reducing vulnerability and enhancing sustainable livelihood for tribal and other marginalized communities in 26 villages of Gumla district (Jharkhand).
Beneficiary Groups
Small, marginalized and women farmers, Land less and resource poor families, Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste Communities.
Key Intervention
- Identify operational gaps and determine gap filling strategies in the agriculture system.
- Empowerment of Scheduled Tribe and Women Farmers.
- Promote weather resilient farming system and diversification of livelihoods, engaging community and their connotations in the tangible adaptation pathway.
- Focus on the community-centric and process-driven aspects to increase diversification of crops through promoting integrated farming.
- Strengthening of community, farmers, and women groups.
- Promote animal husbandry/livestock to ensure food, nutrition security as well as livelihood options.
- Revival of water bodies and natural resource management.
- Identify profitable markets and establish linkages with farmers.
- Integrate gender into agriculture activities and focus on equity and inclusion to develop gender-impartial control of prolific resources and incomes through women empowerment activities.
- Increase access to Government livelihood entitlements including MGNREGA.
- Establish linkages and convergence with government programmes and policy actions.
The focus remains in enabling action through research to contribute for improved agriculture, livelihood and nutrition outcomes for nutritionally and economically vulnerable populations through understanding, assessing, and strengthening nutrition-sensitive agricultural programs and policies, analysing the economical stature of leveraging agriculture and on generating and sustaining enabling environments for nutrition and economical security.
