Research Training
Vikas Samvad has been playing a role as a research and documentation centre since the past two decades. In most of the works in the social sector, the emphasis is on implementation, but in this field, research and training are as much important. Vikas Samvad has always kept research and training as its focal points right from the beginning. The objective of this process is to bring authenticated facts, stories and situations to the fore so that steps could be taken towards policy-level changes.
The research works taken up till now were mostly academic in nature. The effort of Vikas Samvad has been to simplify pro-people research by use of simple language and presentation. Also the perspective of presentation makes it more emphatic. The topics taken up have been those that have direct connect to the people such as health, education, agriculture, environment, water, sanitation, economic issues, budget, forest rights, right to information and others. The other important effort of Vikas Samvad is to undertake analysis of the different widely accepted surveys conducted by the government, with a different perspective and to glean out subject-wise facts from these surveys such as the Census of India, the NFHS, Annual Health Survey, NSO surveys, National Crime Record Bureau report etc. The pro-people analyses of these surveys make the research that much special. Till now, about 150 info-packs have been prepared in this manner.
Also till date, more than 500 training programmes on various topics have been organised along with orientation and facilitation of more than 1500 training programmes have been taken up. Training modules have been prepared on above mentioned topics, so that extensive work would be taken up. Vikas Samvad is thus moving towards getting established as a training centre too.
